i don't know if you remember, but there are DEFINITELY parts of the movie where it appears as if edward is doing just that. for instance, when bella walks into her science class for the first time and walks in front of the fan. it then shows edward making a ridiculous face and motion as a paper on his desk gets blown in the wind.
