I never pay full price at a sale. I also offer less and if they won't take it, I don't buy... just on principle. Haggling is part of the fun. Most of the fun really... cause how often do you really need any of the shit you buy?
I would offer $5 to $7 for a $10 item. Never just $2. But remember, if you don't like the offer, just say no. No big deal. It's nicer to meet somewhere in the middle however. They offer $2 and you tell them you can't go below $7. Don't go into a long winded rant about how it's worth $10 though. If it's worth much, a yard sale really isn't the appropriate place to be selling it.
In the future for that kind of item I'd suggest a consignment shop. You can drop off a bunch of stuff all at once and then pick up your money later.
Or there are ebay services which work the same way. Saves you the hassle yet you get more in the end.
