 Part 1, Reflection:

In “The Boat” the main character goes against what is traditionally expected of him by choosing school over a life of fishing. The daughters in the family all choose to work at a restaurant for foreigners and marry foreigners rather than local fisherman defying the mother just like in the story, “Boys and Girls”. I like how you mentioned the daughters in their father's room. After they attempt to tidy his mess, they are sucked into his world of books and knowledge, which completely changes their outlook on life. After they are exposed to the books, they adopt their father's idea of a better life rather than turning into their mother.

I like how you talked about the girls leaving. I think that is a big part of the story. I touched on them, but once reading your I think about it alot more. It seemed when the girls left things started to go down hill
