History;
Amy Dill was a dedicated woman's study major when she met the much-older-but-utterly-charming Erik Lensherr during her sabbatical year from college. While neither were concerned about the age difference [which was a decade and a half if you were wondering] both knew that their summer fling would be just that, a fling. As much as Amy enjoyed Erik's intelligence, charisma and charm, she didn't see their relationship deepening beyond the casual romance they participated in. Erik felt the exact same, as was harshly translated when Amy discovered she was pregnant, and Erik disappeared from her life completely.

Unable [and really, very unwilling if we're honest] to give up her life for that of a child, Amy started looking into giving up her unborn child for adoption. The answer came in the form of Susanna and Michael Dane; a couple from the Beverly Hill's area looking to adopt a newborn. Susanna was unable to have her own children following a complication in a cosmetic procedure that resulted in the removal of her womb. Desperate to raise a child, Susanna and Michael were eager to adopt Amy's unborn baby.

Amy gave the newborn girl to Susanna and Michael the day of her birth and returned to her life without thinking about her baby girl. For Susanna and Michael, they had the little princess they always wanted, and started spoiling her rotten from then onwards. They decided that they wouldn't tell their daughter, who they named Lorna, about the adoption [which, let's face it, was a bad idea to begin with]. As a cosmetic surgeon, Michael was able to provide a charmed life for his daughter and wife; Lorna was pampered with everything she could ever want while growing up, and regularly got it. While her parents both told Lorna that having odd coloured hair was fine [and really, they decided not to question it because that way led madness] Lorna started to dye her hair dark brown to cover the green, one of her attempts to keep her difference minimal.

By the time high school rolled around, Lorna was the quintessential rich daddy's girl. While she hid her brains behind her shallow nature and talk of boys, Lorna kept her grades up, her popularity up and her parents proud. Things only got awkward after Lorna was exposed to an electro-magnetic-pulse during a bank robbery in which Lorna found herself and four of her classmates as hostages. After the incident, Lorna found strange things happening around her [not X-Files strange, Harry Potter strange] and while she didn't tell her parents, Lorna kept a detailed account where she could, [like when Matt Wilson grabbed her butt and the electric fan flew across the room and smacked him in the face, or the time in biology, when the scalpels were stuck to the work tables and Lorna refused to dissect the toad]. After she managed to unwrap a street light from a car that had crashed into it, freeing a young girl from the back of the car, Lorna decided that maybe it was time to talk to her parents about the 'weird stuff' that was going on.

The talk didn't really go that way. Susanna, unsure at just what Lorna was hedging towards, thought that Lorna had found out about the adoption. Choosing to tell the truth rather than lie to Lorna, Susanna confirmed that yes, Lorna was adopted, [later, Lorna would add to her detailed book of 'weird stuff' that all the forks in the kitchen had their prongs bent out of shape after this] and that they weren't sure where her birth mother was, or who her father was. Suitably stunned into forgetting about the 'weird stuff' for now, Lorna concentrated on the whole 'lied to for her whole life' aspect that just reared it's head. Not that she advertised the fact at all.

Lorna didn't think about the 'weird stuff' until two weeks after that, with graduation looming and the pressure of what to do with her life being all she could think about. Lorna woke up that night levitating three feet above her bed. The next morning, she asked about her birth mother. Tracking down Amy was not easy, and Lorna wasn't all that enthusiastic about it, but her birth mother eventually agreed to meet Lorna in Hollywood for coffee. After a rather stilted conversation [during which Lorna discovered she had nothing in common with her mother] Lorna was able to figure out that there was nothing 'weird' about Amy, and all Amy could give Lorna about her father was a name; Erik Lensherr.

Trying to find him brought Lorna to Emma Frost [something Lorna has yet to figure out] and nudged Lorna down a path that she'd never really considered. Finally accepting that she was a mutant, which was explained rather well by Miss Frost [who, by the way, brilliant cosmetic surgeon] and Lorna was offered a place in one of Frost's education branches in California. The Academy of Tomorrow, a small group of mutants around Lorna's age, turned out to be useful in many ways. Although not directly linked to Frost, the Academy offered education as well as training, hoped to be used as a peace-keeping squad to encourage mutant and human relations. Lorna took to the name Polaris, [she also stopped dying her hair] and started working on her Masters in Geophysics.

When Lorna was twenty four, having been with the Academy of Tomorrow for almost six years, there was a massive incident that resulted in the death of nine activists. Lorna was suspected of the murder and arrested, without trial she was imprisoned for the murders and received no visitors or phone call [she really wasn't happy about this]. Eventually, Lorna was cleared and released, and while she suspects that Frost had something to do with it, Lorna was never really sure. As a result of the incident, she decided to leave the Academy of Tomorrow, unable to keep with the 'peace-keeping' aspect of things and greatly pissed off at the 'humans' of the world.

Lorna decided to contact Frost, wanting to start searching for her father again and knowing that Frost could help her. Instead, Lorna was offered a different kind of mission, one with a little more punch and far more suited to her new state of mind. Emma sent Lorna a plane ticket and told her to pack for cold weather. Without asking why or questioning her mentor, Lorna complied and found herself in Washington State, part of a military team and wondering if this was really where she was meant to be.

Appearance;

HEIGHT: 5'7"

WEIGHT: 112lbs

HAIR: Green

EYES: Green

IDENTIFYING MARKS: Naturally green hair

At 5'7", Lorna is acutely aware of her weight, mass and fitness. It would be far too easy to let things go and with her petite frame that could lead to 'plumpness' something Lorna will not abide. As such, Lorna is an active, muscled young woman with various athletic interests to help maintain her frame. She's fairly pale in complexion with a hint of tan from her days in Beverly Hills. Lorna's hair, possibly her most noted feature, is mid-length and is naturally a light shade of green. Her eyes, unlike both her birth parents, are a dark shade of emerald.

More often than not, Lorna sticks to earth tones and greens when picking out her wardrobe. Since she stopped dying her hair to hide the green, it's very important that she does not clash, a colour clash is just unacceptable. Fitted clothes are best; leggings, skinny jeans, fitted pants, even shorts. Lorna does not wear hot pants -they make her calves look huge. While she isn't afraid to flash a little skin, it's usually just her belly or the top of her back -cleavage flashing is for hookers. Light weight tops are best, with nothing like zippers or buckles if she can help it.

Make up is kept to minimal. It's hard to match your make up when your hair and eyebrows are lime green. For the most part, Lorna's look is fresh and clean, usually a light blush or some pinkish lip stain. Most of the time, Lorna steers clear of messing with her eyes.

Personality;

In some ways Lorna is the stereotypical little princess that most people assume she is. Spoiled as a child and more so as a teenager due to recent revelations about her adoption, Lorna is very used to getting her own way. If she doesn't get it then she can be prone to throwing hissy fits and glaring daggers at whoever has stepped on her toes. Cross her or her friends and she won't forget it, and you can expect to be publicly humiliated in return in the very near future. Lorna holds a grudge like no one else and keeps a mental list of all the people who have wronged her [she's actually got a list in a binder with a colour chart and key], preferring revenge to acting like the bigger person and letting things go.

Incredibly blunt, Lorna often makes statements and remarks that could potentially hurt whoever she's with. She simply doesn't think before opening her mouth and rather than apologise for upsetting someone, she'll usually just roll her eyes and tell them to get over it. In layman's terms, Lorna is kind of a bitch [to her, tact is non-existent and she believes it's just for people that don't say 'true stuff']. She also happens to be a lot smarter than she lets on and despite acting like she doesn't care about school, she frequently gets As and Bs in all her classes.

Of course if she actually likes you then Lorna can be very sweet and charming, [which is how she's never gone five minutes without a boyfriend since hitting puberty]. Flirtatious and more than a little promiscuous, Lorna easily interacts with the opposite sex and often uses them for personal or political gain. When Lorna turns her attentions on you, whether you're a boy she likes or one of her friends, she can be very generous and fun to be around. It never lasts though and her moods change as quickly as the weather, as do her tastes. So one minute you might be her favourite person and the next she might be blanking you in the hall, [and that's the first time you'll realise that she's doing it too].

Incredibly focused and concerned with the image of perfection and confidence that she projects, Lorna doesn't have a problem stepping on anyone to keep it that way. What she wants, she gets, regardless of how. She's incredibly driven, [for a spoiled princess] and will reach her goal no matter what.

Mutation;

Magnetism Manipulation: Lorna's power is a lot like her father's, as yet she has only used powers involving the manipulation of magnetic, electrical, and gravitational fields. She can overload or short circuit electrical systems with powerful bursts of magnetic charge and with enough concentration change the magnetic pull of an object or use a magnetic field to change a magnetism -she can also use this to wipe things like recorded tapes or compact discs.

Levitation: Polaris has been observed levitating metallic objects and creating force fields in which she can suspend people or objects in the air. She can also use this to protect them from attacks from outside the fields. By concentrating, Polaris could perceive the world around herself solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She could perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, as well.

Limitations: The exact limits on the amount weight that she can magnetically lift at present have not been measured, but they are considerably below those of Magneto. Lorna loses her focus much quicker with the level of weight increasing and would pass out if she over taxed herself. Moreover, she could not summon as great an amount of energy as Magneto could, this means her power levels are only reaching Alpha level while her father is possibly well beyond being an Alpha level mutant and close to an Omega level. At one time, her magnetic powers were just temporarily inaccessible meaning Lorna could've lived without her powers being activated.
