Some of you may remember the suicide of Tyler Clementi. His roomate, Dharun Ravi, was convincted last week after being found guilty of privacy invasion, tampering with evidence, and bias intimidation (a hate crime). Dharun Ravi wasn't the problem. Tyler Clementi's mom was the problem. He had recently come out to his parents before starting college, and his mom took it very, very badly. Her first impulse was to reject her son.

After reading about this whole case, the trial, and the verdict, I actually feel worse for Dharun Ravi than Tyler Clementi. Much of the media is making Clementi look like a saintly victim, and it makes me vomit. Indian kids in this country also get shit on by their peers, and later on accused of being terrorists as adults. The insanity must end.
