Wearing my wide-brimmed gardening hat, which leaves me more or less blind, I walked into a tree branch yesterday. No concussion, but apparently my right eye is a little bummed out and doesn't feel like talking to my left eye about what color things are. This is, I am told, normal weirdness, and a sign of swelling in the macula ( Read more... )

*hugs you gently*

That sounds like an interesting weirdness, and one I will ask you about WHEN YOU'RE BETTER. More lying down and healing, please. *hugs*

Thank you, dear **hugs back**

I should be fine tomorrow. It was mainly a warm/cool color difference that came out when they did an eye test on me at Kaiser. Left eye colors seemed warmish - right eye had a pale, greenish cast. The young doc who saw me consulted with an opthamalogist and said this can happen when there is swelling in the retina. Who knew?

It's been helpful to stay really low-key today, and amazing to realize how much I rely upon my eyes. No reading? No knitting? Wow.

Thank you for commenting - a warier and wiser gardener I will be in future.

I hope you have a good radio turned to a good channel!
Sorry for the pain you're suffering, and the being out of action. I guess you can see well enough to type? That's a blessing.

Thank you. I'm already feeling a little better than I did this morning. The vision is just a little funky, nothing serious. I figure I'll be back in commission tomorrow.

Already feeling a little better than earlier today, and ibuprofen is helping. Crazy-assed tree. At least it got me right across the forehead, a nice authoritative klonk but no concussion. The eye stuff was a surprise. Called Kaiser to ask about painkillers, told 'em my vision was funny, and found myself in a car driven in most peculiar fashion by a kind-hearted retreatant on my way to Santa Rosa. Exhausting...this dear lady was driving narrow and hilly mountain roads...in 4th and 5th gear. O_o

*snerk* did she not realise you were heading to the ER/urgent care..? Or was she lugging it..? :D

It was an appointment, rather than ER, and we made it exactly on time - but I've never driven with someone who drives on surface streets in 5th gear. So basically, rollie rollie...hit a hill...go S L O W L Y up the hill, while GJ wonders if the engine will actually stall...

The pain of large hats. So fabulous, yet so dangerous.

Seriously though, eye stuff sucks. :(

Hope you feel better soon!!

Thanks. Sun protection good, zero peripheral vision bad.

Eyes seem to be focusing all right today, just sort of dizzy and head-achy. Reading is easier today; gonna try to be in the office this afternoon.
