Hi.
I'm posting from my phone, which sucks, but I'm here.
I'm in Arizona on Day 6 of the 7-day family gathering that my sister and brother-in-law have set up to celebrate my nephew's first Thanksgiving (he was born August 11) and brother-in-law's mom's 70th birthday. Turned out to also be a celebration of brother-in-law's sister's engagement to her longtime fella, who for various nonterrible Reasons is not here but is home with his own family instead. The gathering consists, altogether, of 11 adults (there are some cousins and an uncle) plus one baby, one toddler, and a dog. The dog is my much-missed Fabulous Corgi Nephew, who is now 11 and more inclined to waddle than scamper but is very very happy to see all his Massachusetts People again. The toddler is Emery, age 2 (her mom and my brother-in-law are first cousins) who is delightful. The baby is my nephew Jonah, age 3 months and change, who is impossibly cute and smiles a lot. If I can get mobile LJ to stop sucking, I'll try to post a picture.
I'm making an effort to be on LJ a bit more, in hopes that people may be heading back over here as the FB/Twitterverse becomes more and more a source of overload rather than a useful place for thinking out loud and hoping that one's friends will see it.
I'm unlikely to post anything political, or, really, anything of substance, on account of I tend to initiate those conversations offline if I'm inclined to initiate them at all. But there's a pretty good chance I'm listening.
