So, in looking around through stuff today I found that moths had gotten into my alpaca yarn. They seem to looooove alpaca.

I was wroth. So I took the whole box downstairs (it had much other yarn in it) and dumped it in the dryer on hot. 15 minutes is said to kill any moth eggs. I set it for 20 or so.

This is what I got when I opened the dryer:

The first stuff I ever knit was alpaca. Lovely stuff. Never got moths, thankfully.

Oh, that pile makes me want to giggle madly, and weep. I can just imagine the nights spend picking and untangling and picking and cursing....

*sigh*

Yeah, I thought you and Liralen might particularly get a kick out of that picture. :)

I shrieked when I opened the dryer, half in horror, half in absolute hysteria.

I have found, though, that once I get past the initial swearing stage, I find a zone of zen calm in which to untangle... (not that I'll ever EVER do this again).

Hee!

I do find a sort of zen thing in untangling. It's a great exercise in patience. The first non-center-pull thing I ever had, I tangled horribly then spent a whole week untangling!

Thankfully it isn't all alpaca -- the alpaca is the grey, and most of it is on the bottom of the lump in that picture. The rest is cotton, which the dumb moths will eat if they have to, and there's a skein and a half of acrylic, which they can't eat but they'll still hatch on, tenacious little buggers.
