because i'm totally awesome, there was a circuit breaker, which totally took down the power in my room, thusly leaving me with a half-typed outline on my desktop (which shut off, like everything else). luckily, i have a laptop and awesomely geeky/handy friends (thank you, steve and danny), and the power has been restored. oy vey. i hate outlining!
