Man, I need to stop being polite when dealing with unsolicited sales calls. I'm fine with our credit card processing service, I'm fine with our bookkeeper and tax accountants and don't fucking tell me how much more effective my advertising dollar could be and how to boost my online presence - if I had the time and inclination, I would do something ( Read more... )

Just say "I'm not interested" and hang up before they have a chance to respond. That's actually the most polite thing to do. They're SUPPOSED to keep pushing.

I'm sure there getting desperate and trying all the harder in this economy, too. Maybe a "No thank you" ..click.. is the way to go.

I've found that screaming "Yes! Yes! I killed them all!" works even better, but that's just me. Actually, that's untrue: asking "You just want me to talk dirty to you, don't you?" is even better.

Look at it this way. Either the solicitor hangs up in return, or you've got a date for that night. Either way, you win.

Just hang up on them. If they call back, tell them that you want to talk to their supervisor. No other way will get through their pointy little heads. (I'm about as small as they get when it comes to small businesses, and I still get five or six calls like this every week.)
