Congratulations! And that's a powerful mindframe he told you to work from.

It's only been 13 months since I quit. I'd also just been diagnosed with tonsil cancer so I was associating quitting and unexpected death myself. Quitting and treatment both worked.

That's an interesting approach to quitting. I wonder if I could talk my husband into trying it. Nah. He'd have a miraculous resurrection of his "friend" within a few days or a week! :o) congratulations to you for achieving the quitting!

It's interesting to me how we all remember our quitting cigarettes stories so vividly, no matter how long it's been. For me, it will be 12 years on Dec 9th.

And it really is like the death of a friend. Although I didn't use that premise to quit, I did write a "thanks and goodbye" letter that was very helpful to me in the process.
