It's been a while, huh? Almost two years...I was kind of surprised my account hadn't been deactivated. The whole sordid transitional story is over on Facebook, where a number of you have already read it, but I don't care to re-hash it here. To condense: we successfully (and profitably!) escaped Seattle, back up in my beautiful Skagit Valley now

I hope it goes without saying I REALLY wanted to hear from you, C.! :) *puss o kram* I haven't read back on your feed more than a few pages yet but so happy you still seem happy, are still with Ray and enjoying life. I think I'll be able to check in here far more often now (and you're welcome to thwack me if I don't). <3

It will take a long arm to thwack you, but I can probably manage. You may have noted that we are buying a house in Sweden and will actually be relatively close to the Norwegian border so the next time you and A are over ... did I mention we have multiple guest bedrooms?

Ideal! We DO hope to get back to Norway before too many of his relatives pass on but dammit, I wanna do Sweden, too this time!...even Denmark if budget allows. Well, we're still not rich but definitely most stable, steady income since we've been together so perhaps this could happen in a year or two. Hopefully before MY 60th birthday. ;)

not that i post that often in LJ nowadays, and when i do it's either travel stuff or cats (!) but i'm still here, will never drop you, and hope you will post occasionally.

I've realized to my sorrow that my favorite LJ peeps are also the most hostile to FB. I'm back here mostly because I've missed you - not the site itself so much - but I have to come to terms with the fact that several of you will never interact with me there, and I can't have that! What's new and different now (for me) is that I finally feel I have time for both, and can put my online life back in balance.

Slowly, slowwwwwwwly, I'll go back through pages and pages and see what I've missed. Hope you get out this way again some day - and geez, I think a return trip to Sverige is long overdue, eller hur? ;) Yeah, 36 years is a long time gone!............

I would love to explore your new surroundings some day, it sounds almost paradisical... and of course you must take the old man (!!) and do malmö/copenhagen. Do what athenais did and come during the summer solstice - we can bring a bottle of wine out to "ale stenar" and watch the pagans chant away. :) then continue up to carolyn and ray, your vacation would be very cheap with free lodging. :)

You've mapped out my dream vacation, pretty much. :) Did I ever tell you my mother's mother's parents were from Malmö? One of my most awesome memories from exchange student days was taking the ferry from Ystad to Bornholm and biking around the whole island...the excruciatingly quaint streets of Rønne...the octagonal churches...sparkly white sand beaches at Dueodde...Svaneke...Gudhjem...my host brother naked on a beach. :P It's been 36 years, fercryinoutloud! We are LONG overdue!
