I miss my Lazarus. It's not the same if we have to get him a new HD. That computer has seen a lot. He voyaged with me hundreds of miles down to Maryland and back to Connecticut, up and down from Vermont and even back and forth to Maine. He was with me through so many of my life changes. Through him I experienced new and amazing things, great music, fun with friends, Dungeons and Dragons, THE INTERNET!, and he held all my best writing. Lazarus was my Photoshop pal, up with me until the wee wee hours of the morning. He's witnessed more intimate moments than any other appliance I can think of. For all his cracks and glitches I always appreciated his smooth keyboard. His little nubbly mouse button that was worn down with many hours of use, and how it used to wander across the screen, unstoppable until it finished its jaunt. He was never quite right in the head, and his CD drive was a mystery, but he always came back. Just not this time. *cries*
You shouldn't bury a computer. There's pollutants like lead in it. You can probably find a place that accepts old computers for recycling. I don't know where to look though.
Until then, I send my condolences. You will be missed, Lazarus, wherever your soul may be in computer heaven.
Yeah, I know about the pollutant factor.. its just, I got so attached to him, to would seem such a shame to have him dismembered and cataloged somewhere. But then again, maybe that is the same as our taking on a new life after death, computer reincarnation. Old wisdom and energy to touch the new technology mind of the future (whoa, kind of sci-fi for me, huh?)
Wow! Looking initially at all those number stat things, I have no idea what any of it means, but I look more into it later and get back you. Thank you!!
Oh I'm so sorry! What happened? Did you lose all your files and everything!? That happened to me once and I lost all these stories and poems I'd been working on for years. I name all my stuff too. Here's good wishes that you are able to fix him or find one just like him!
I was so very lucky to be granted a slim window of time to evacuate all my files onto our other computer. If I had lost a half a year's photography.. I would have seriosly been distraught.

If you know what kind of connection (ata6 or serial) you need, i could go in half and half with you for a cheapish but good drive thats only 30-40 each.
