Did you ever try repeating putting on some music before going to bed? From your description that seemed to work.

My only non-pharmaceutical recommendation would be to youtube old Bob Ross episodes.
Are you familiar with Bob Ross? He's basically known as a human quaalude.

In other news, how is life?

Rose -

I have trouble sleeping too. I found three things that work well for me.

* Exercise - just a bit - early in the evening. This helps with "The mind is sleepy but the body is not."

* Make your sleep schedule as regular as possible. Just getting into the habit of sleeping at a specific time helps.

* Don't eat anything for at least an hour before your scheduled sleep time, especially nothing with caffeine or sugar in it.

- Regular exercise
- Avoiding strenuous physical activity that doesn't involve orgasm 2 hours before bed
- Huge meals
- Lectures on point group theory in crystallography
- Victorian literature
- Severe sleep deprivation
- Light stretching before bed
- Warm milk
- Resolution prior to bedtime
