i love nursery rhymes. they run through my head with the sticking power of songs, but without the frustration and irritation that such brain parasites bring. one of my ever-favourites was bobby shaftoe:

"bobby shaftoe's gone to sea
silver buckles on his knee
he'll come back and marry me
pretty bobby shaftoe."when i was in high school i started
