my creative writing class went on a field trip to the ninth ward to see and to do writing exercises. i think we were supposed to recognize the realities of hurricanes and suffering and losing everything in seeing this still devastated area. i only felt even more removed from it all ( Read more... )

i feel for you maureen. i hate idiots and i hating fucking college students who come to our city to party and then leave it in the dark when they're done with it, as if it's not something that needs help right now!

on a similar note, i saw the vagina monologues last weekend and i think you would have appreciated it galore. one, it was the first time i ever saw vm. two, it was great. three, i cried about raped vaginas. four, they dedicated it to new orleans at the end and women of the storm. they even said new orleans was the vagina of this country. ie constantly raped, but then forgotten about. please see my quotes section on facebook.

I am still questing after the Hubig's slice of apple pie which is supposedly vegan. I think they stopped making it post-K, but I think it was rare before then.

I hope that girl goes to the Boot, buys 40 of them, eats them all at one sitting and then realizes she ate her total calories for the next 365 days all at once. :P

OMG, screw her. I hate those kids. I hate when they say "Yeah, it was so tragic, right??? I totally lived there for like, an entire year, I'm so broken up about it."

Ugh.

reading this, i feel sorry for the girl, but then i think shit, these are the people who waste money on the restaurant i work for but otherwise ignore the real culture and lifestyle i lead in this wonderful city. i'm glad to take their money while they stay out of my way and it leaves more hubig's pies, more other good food, more music, more life for me without the complications of airheads about.
