writer's sequoia log

Why do I always have writer's block until the last second?  I hate how I just sit there and watch my blood pressure rise while others turn out beautifully articulated essays about their lives, using extended metaphors.

TT_TT I hate procrastination.  But even if I try not to procrastinate, nothing good seems to come out of my obstinate brain unless I ( Read more... )

OMG, will you look at your lj posts? They're beautifully articulated! I'm sure you're essays are wonderful!!!! Just put your pen to paper and start writing.

On the other hand, I've really been struggling with my college essays. T___T Don't roll your eyes! That essay was the 10th one I wrote because the content in my other 9 didn't measure up. And I still don't like this essay very much (the bg one), but I don't have the energy to write anymore for the UCs. I'm just drained. And my parents have been incessantly complaining and going on diatribes about turning in my apps. So. Stressful. I have half of a mind to go to UCLA (if I get in) because of the distance.

*puff*

Are you serious about quality? Please be honest when you correct my essays!! >:< (As much as I feel relieved by the word "quality" because then it means that I won't have to throw myself into the horrible task of writing draft 11)

Try stream of consciousness!

:) you give good advice. I am not on an inspired roll right now, but I'll just...spit something out, even if it's not the best thing I can write.

Besides, UCs don't even read our essays if we're over the gpa and SAT requirements...

You got the "Oh, just send an application and we'll give you admission!" letter from Davis, right?

and I've just noticed the egregious (stealing your word xD) grammatical errors strewn about my previous comment. Apologies. :P

Eh... I do that too. Once in a blue moon, I actually start early, but I get nowhere. Or I do plan some ridiculously elaborate and overkill for what the assignment is. Sigh.

You know what works - ride that wave!

The pencil I bought has been going to good/cute use.

I am too tired to ride that wave. I've wasted more than 40 hrs of my life staring at the drafts I write and trashing them/folding origami at ridiculous speeds because I have writer's block.

-____-

I don't care. I can write a very good essay if I try; it just won't be inspired. I don't really care anymore.
