Dot was grateful for the little bits of downtime she'd been able to grab, lately. With everything that had happened -- Good as well as Bad, taking time to just breathe was increasingly valuable

Chuck checked her messages some time between Things with Liam and dinner with Marcus, Laura and Liam...frowning as she listened to Dot's voice. Val. Hospital. Details. Ugh.
Dialing the other girl back, the little blonde hoped it was nothing too serious but the worry in Dot's voice had her doubtful.
Dot jumped when the phone rang, even though she'd been half-expecting it. She even managed to get the phone open with one hand while she was taping a box shut with the other, somehow.

"Evidently, he put off going to the doctor until his stomach made the decision for him. He is a stubborn one, our Mister Val. I don't think they cut off the phones, but if he is sleeping when you call and you startle him awake, he might thrash about and yank out the IV or something. Otherwise I think whenever should be fine."
She sighed, adding, 'I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time."
She reflected, for the millionth time, that this time was Different. This was not Sunnydale. The only demon that had put Val there was Val himself, but that didn't make the situation much easier to take. A little bit, but not much.
