[RL with Lavi - In which Envy hesitates over a crucial matter...]

Apr 17, 2011 13:38

Envy sat perched upon a chair in a shadowy corner of the room. His eyes were two crimson pinpricks of light glowing in the darkness as he watched his prey, who was sleeping soundly in the bed on the other side of the room.

Poor, ignorant fool... Lavi had absolutely no idea that his life was about to end in a few short moments...

The Homunculus got to his feet and padded silently across the floor. A few sparks of alchemical energy crackled along Envy's right hand, transforming it into a scaly green claw. His shadow fell across the bed as he raised his hand, fingers stiffened, poised to strike. Just a quick jab to the throat, and the Bookman would bleed out before he even realized what had happened. A cruel grin stretched across Envy's face at the thought of all that blood staining the pure white sheets. What a great masterpiece that would be!

It's nothing personal. Really. We both knew this day would come. This was only a temporary diversion, but now it's time to put silly little toys away for good...

At least, that's what Envy kept telling himself. Now that Pride had made his move, Envy had no choice but to get serious about his mission. The Promised Day was only a few short days away. He could no longer afford any distractions.

Something glinted in the darkness. Envy glanced to one side, realizing that he had neglected to transform the rings into his flesh when he'd transmuted his right hand. His brows furrowed when he noticed the way his hand trembled ever so slightly...

Trembling with excitement, yes! That's it! Envy is simply savoring those few short moments before--

Lavi stirred, and the Homunculus held his breath, not daring to move. But the Bookman did not wake. Envy sighed softly through his nose, frowning. That stupid Lavi. Even now, he was wearing that same idiotic grin like he always did. He was probably dreaming about eating a pot full of dumplings or something equally prosaic.

Slowly, Envy lowered his hand, transmuting the scales into flesh once more. He spun on his heel and stalked toward the window. He stood silently as he stared outside. Dawn would be coming soon. He would finish the job before the first rays of light spilled though the window. He still had a little time left until then. After all, what difference would a few moments make in the grand scheme of things?

!rl, epic fight!, lavi
