I sincerely apologize for my dark suspicions that this was going to be a painfully embarrassing comedy episode about a) those funny Amish people or b) wacky misunderstandings as our heroes attempt to interact with those funny Amish people. Admittedly it's not like you haven't given me cause for suspicion, and the trailer didn't help,

I think that may have been the first time I saw Amish treated with respect in a one-hour TV show, as people who struggle with a living, evolving faith rather than people who follow wacky rules.

The only thing I personally remember seeing with Amish characters is The Witness, which is sympathetic but not a TV show. But the show's track record with subcultures is not great (and I gather this is pretty common for crime shows), so I was very pleasantly surprised. Even our clearly designated villain character was nothing of the sort.
