i see how my friendlies start typing stuff and then have a 'more after the cut' linkie
that lets people access the rest of the post should they choose to do so.

how do you do it? i want to be able to do a synopsis on the main feed and more detailed stuff within the link.

please lj-literate friends?

When you are writing the post there is the default html and then there i also a tab for rich text at the top right of the posting form. Click rich text. Type your post then highlight the part you want to have the link or cut to hide. Then click the icon on the toolbar at the top of the post form that has a couple little lines then a line that sort of looks like a line graph or a heart beat line.Your curser over it will say livejournal chat. Click this and enter what you want the link to say. That's it.

I think you mean "livejournal cut" not, "livejournal chat"?
