'Cirque Dreams' turns the jungle into a fantasy.

Welcome to the jungle!

The Heymann Center will be transformed into a jungle of mythic proportions when the acrobatic extravaganza Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy comes to Acadiana for one night only.

Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy is an exotic encounter inspired by nature's unpredictable creations that are brought to life by an international cast of 25 soaring aerialists, spine-bending contortionists, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. The feats performed in Cirque Dreams are enhanced with over 150 costumes and set in a fantastical jungle ignited by a host of visual effects.

The show, which has been on tour across the U.S. since the Fall, spent some time on Broadway last summer. While the show didn't exactly get alot of love from New York's tough theatre critics - Christopher Isherwood of the New York Times said the show's score " sounds like it could have been burned right off a CD titled "Ibiza Gay Fun Disco Party 2"- the show did well at the box office and was a popular hit.

The show is also a homegrown extravaganza. Cirque Dreams is an American production, not to be confused with the industry that is Cirque du Soleil. This show and the company's other extravaganzas are the brainchild of New Yorker Neil Goldberg. In 1993 he became the first American producer to craft these European-style shows for tours and theatres.

Now the company has five different shows on tour, each a unique combination of acrobatics, theatre and pure imagination.

Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy is perfect for anyone who loves Cirque du Soleil. The show is suitable for all members of the family- even the youngest ones.
