Last night I got this stupid idea in my head to setup my Western Digital external hard drive as a network drive. I've never really been able to fill up my computer's hard drive, let alone the terabyte of space on the external. So far, seems to be a good idea; but that's where the good idea ended and the bad idea began. To Fry's!
Julie and I headed out to that godforsaken den of technological doom and picked up the Hitachi SimpleNet adapter. Basically, it allows any USB device (drive, printer, etc) to be setup as a network device. Simple, right? Well no, I got the product at Fry's. So far my network can recognize the dongle, but not the drive to which it is attached.
On the theory that the drive needs to be reformatted, I've set my laptop to work. That was this morning, a few minutes before I got a call from the office to ship out to Avalon again. Hopefully when I get home tonight (around 9ish) the formatting will be complete (unless the cat dorked it up) and I can setup the stupid thing.
