He'd gotten word. And he had given his own. She was gone and Gabe would do what he'd promised.

Stopping at the doors, dashing the tears from his eyes. Tonight he'd welcomed a new member to the pard.

And he'd lost one.

It was becoming too common an occurance.

The disk was where she said it would be. Nothing accosted him, though he had expected it. And the disk held everything he feared. He sat and he read it. Laughing a moment here, sobbing a moment later. Finally curling in on himself in the chair and just smiling, remembering.

She's been a good woman. A better friend.

And there wouldn't be a day he lived on Earth that she wouldn't be sorely missed.

"Farewell, Anna. You were everything and more to me, Lady. And I love you."
