ok, so they protested it, but did they actually move to prevent it from happening, or did they just voice their disagreement but respect the right of the president to address his constituents? i had a hard time finding this out on my own and was wondering if you knew. i'm also wondering if they used it as an excuse for name-calling-- i.e. "he's trying to turn our kids into socialists and muslims?" (not that that part's actually relevant to what you're saying. i'm just curious. lol)

In a local school district here in central PA, the school officials are going to tape it, watch it, and then only allow teachers to show it in class if it is "appropriate". A local representative went on camera on our local news to say that it isn't right for the "leader of the free world" to give a speech to our children "encouraging socialism."

stupid isn't even strong enough. i don't think there is a word strong enough to characterize the complete denial of fact and total willingness to be so...well, stupid, just to be stubborn and get in someone else's way. it's seriously hard for me to believe that these people don't see the facts or see different facts than the ones i know to be true. they've got to be seeing what's going on and just....completely denying it. it's like...something they should have been chastized for in childhood but *weren't.* i really have a hard time understanding it. i mean, my parents are extremely conservative, i'm pretty liberal, but i can absolutely say they're not *stupid* like this.
