My primary care doctor referred me to a Neurologist just to cover my headaches from all angles. The appointment was today. I showed up at 2:45 because he was supposed to see me at 3:00. I took Arianna to a neurologist when she was 5, he talked to her for five minutes and diagnosed her with tourettes and wrote me out prescriptions for prozac and something else she never took because he was an idiot.

get a second opinion! you should feel comfortable with your doctor, and trust their diagnosis enough to follow through with treatment. sounds like this one was a d-bag. try somebody else!

i think the mri would be a worthwhile thing to go ahead and get, to rule out anything awful, but i also think you should get a different neurologist, 100%. no doctor should be like that.

What a jerk. There are lots of good neurologists in this city to choose from, so hopefully your doctor can put you in touch with somebody better.

I don't know what your insurance is like, but mine isn't great and I've never had a co-pay at all for an MRI because it's considered a diagnostic procedure. Your insurance company can tell you, or maybe your policy is available online?
