Well, Sunday lunchtime downpour just overwhelmed this! I'm still finding the rainfall figures but what I experienced was crazy enough. easily more than a months rain fell in only a few hours in various locations around Auckland region.
Now the sun has returned and apart from some places, all is normal again. But some ppl will be homeless and rehoused for some time as a culvert is still too unsafe for the WaterCare ppl to get into a sink hole to investigate apparently. It was a known drainage problem location and a building has been red stickered to basically condemn it. Perhaps now they will finally stop trying to make ppl live in places that are basically a flood hazard and authorities will have to fix the drainage system in that place properly now. (a pavement collapsed as a culvert was overwhelmed and a huge amount of water went through some buildings/shops/flats.
