If you are blind, you can get a 50% discount on your TV license. But not if you are deaf. Cuz you could have subtitles, I suppose.

Is it really 50% now? I have a form from 1998ish that says blind people get a lousy 3* POUND DISCOUNT! Off a 50* pound fee! What an insult! I always argued that it should be 50% off and it looks like my brand of thinking has taken hold.

*the figures above are not exact but pretty dang close if memory serves. i'll have to dig up that old form.

The 50% concession came in just a few years ago. Before that it was only £1.25 off a nearly £100 fee.
