The City That Never Lets You Sleep

Two updates about myself in a single year, I'm on a roll...

~

I've moved into the dorm and start classes tomorrow. VCU is laid out in such a way as to allow people to get to where they're going by wandering in the vague direction of the destination and magically appearing where you wanted to be. Either that, or being completely lost while standing ten meters from where you're trying to get to.

Hmm... The Virginia Book Company sells text book at cheaper rates than Barnes & Noble; however, Barnes & Noble insists on seeing my state ID and getting my signature when I use my debit card. So, do I spend less on text books and support a practice of which I severely disapprove, or do I support a practice I strongly approve of and simply take it in the shorts?

ratlan suggested that it sounds more like a parchment of fat jokes.

My dormmate looks like The Rock. This is cool.

I realized something the other day. As you may or may not know, one of the biggest problems people have with immigrants in America is that, much of the time, said immigrants are not able to enunciate English well enough to be understood. However, many of the people I've spoken to since moving to "Thah' South" are even harder to understand, so I wrote a little bit of silliness that's more real to life than you might imagine:

"Ga-dern ee-leg'l imgants... If theh wanna beh liv'n 'n 'merica, theh needs tah learn how tah spehk 'mericin! An' 'at's theh ony real pahbem Ah have wit 'um, 'cause theh dun't nah speak 'mericin too gud and th're nah abuh tah un'stah wha' ah teh's tah 'um."

I trust you'll appreciate the amusing irony inherent in the above three "sentences"; I wonder how many of you have run into this yourselves (or are guilty of it =p).
