The tough part about booking a last-minute portal meant that you had some stopovers in some really weird places. So by the time Hoshi's portal finally dropped her off, her hair was a little mussed up and her cadet uniform was a little rumpled. She stumbled around a bit, looking around for Carmela and trying to get her bearings.
"Carmela, hi!" said Hoshi, rushing over to her table. "Oh my goodness, you will not believe the weekend I've had. Thank goodness I managed to get in touch with you. Starfleet wanted to ship me back to Japan tomorrow and I didn't want to go."
Carmela wrinkles her nose at that. As much as her inner anime fangirl thinks going to Japan would be awesome, if Hoshi doesn't want to be there, then she shouldn't have to be.
"Ship you back? Like, kick you out?" she asks, wide-eyed.
