It's definitely a great idea and concept...i hope it is helpful for children in that unfortunate situation. I can't imagine being a parent and trying to deal with the loss of a partner AND ensuring that the child is getting all the help THEY need with the process. No easy feat.
They're starting to make more children's books about tough topics like this, which is good. Parents rarely have all the answers on their own, outside help is a welcome change.
Yeah I remember my mom getting my lil sis a book about losing a dog named Barney. And we used to read Freddy the Leaf at TI! do you remember that? now there are many more.
by the way, I'm making your chicken and dumplings right now. it looks kinds watery? I haven't done the dumplings part yet, so will that thicken it up a bit? I also added mushrooms since I didn't have any celery, smells great!
The dumplings might soak up some of the water, yeah. Worst case scenario, you can siphon some liquid off with a baster.
I don't think i remember Freddy the Leaf...i remember The Velveteen Rabbit, and one other one... something about a bunny that was protecting a lost baby critter in the winter and died? I remember Peter telling the story w/o using the book, and his version was so much more moving, haha...
OH, and speaking of TI, i just sent 30+ premade warm fuzzies to the office yesterday, haha. I still wanted to be involved SOMEHOW, since it's way too hard on my body to do the programs anymore. Figured using up some of my yarn stash was a good a way as any lol.
