Easy fix - have a second shower. You can show the new sisters-in-law-to-be how it's done. :) Plus, I bet you're not the only ones who can't attend due to a conflict- thiswill give other folks a second chance too.
I told Gwen this morning, its her wedding and her shower, and she has every right to pull the plug if its not going to be fun for her. I would throw an absolute fit if my mother and sister couldn't be at my shower.
Well.....therein lies part of the problem! Between work schedules (Grace works just about every weekend), SCA events, and other weddings....there isn't a free weekend that we could do a second shower.
Second shower, on a weeknight, seems to be a good solution. Here, it's not unusual to have a bridal shower on a week night.
I had at least three showers (one hosted by friends, one hosted by family, one at work). The work shower was kind of cool, cause it was held over the lunch hour (since our supervisor was in on it, we were all allowed a 2 hour lunch - there were a few lunch hour showers during the years I was there).
