Hi,
i'm thinking of planning a trip to Italy next year and my husband's family originally came from Mercalo Italy and I was wondering how your trip turned out and what the town was like? Thanks.

Hi,
I completely forgot that I even had this journal until I got your comment in my email!
Our trip was incredible, everything I could have imagined. Its funny that your husband and my boyfriend's families are from Mercalo...maybe they are related, it is such a small town. Mercalo is exactly what you picture when you think of small italian town. Beautiful architecture and scenery and people. All the homes have lovely terraced gardens and fruit trees - it is gorgeous!
If he still has family there you should stay with them, everyone loves the family to visit and it is well worth it to discover his roots! I'll post some pictures in my journal if I can figure out how!
it's a small world, isn't it?robbie1007December 7 2007, 18:00:14 UTC
How awesome. the family name is Bagaglio and a hundred years ago they were silk worm farmers. Not sure what they are doing now! Would love to see photos. And will try to get info on family before we go -- great idea! We posted their names on the wall at Ellis Island.
