Tornadoes are much rarer here than in the midwest. But yeah, they can happen pretty much anywhere, and whenever you have lots of humidity and heat, you always risk unstable convection. Now, in Florida's defense, did you see the size of that storm system??? I think it spawned tornadoes because it was part of the same system that hit Illinois and Indiana and didn't realize that parts of itself weren't actually in Tornado Alley.
