He wanted to beg, but he wasn't sure what for: punishment or absolution, dignity or degradation? He didn't know what he wanted, couldn't decide what he deserved.
Totally missed this and found it from your end-of-year meme. Hot! I don't know what it is about this pairing but I find them really intriguing. You have Gaius just right here and his semi-desire to be punished.

Also, I really love this image:
The Basestar was different. It was red, for one thing, almost uniformly so; red light played against every surface, washing over him even as he slept. Gaius' dreams were crimson.

I don't know what it is about this pairing but I find them really intriguing.

Me, too; when I first got the prompt for this fic I wasn't sure about the pairing and/or kink, but I found this surprisingly easy to write. Glad to hear you thought it was in-character -- I really wanted to have a good reason for the sex in this one, if only for suspension-of-disbelief's sake!
