Things are ticking along ok here. Home is fine; Ali and I have been taking it very easy. Bank holiday weekend was just what we needed - very low key. I found a beautiful nature reserve only a 1/2 mile or so from our house, which I went for a long run round. Other than that I spent the time playing with Jess and generally taking it easy ( Read more... )

Gods, that sounds like a really depressing job! Oh well, at least you get to see all kinds of interesting things, and cute furry animals...

That picture is frankly barking. Seriously, WTF!? Is it mandatory to have a scantily-clad woman on every website now? Did someone explain "the internet" to the department in a really misleading way??

The rats didn't bother me so much, it was more the smell of all that rotting rubbish. And, presumably rat piss etc. I tried not to think too hard about it!

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that, actually. Luckily we've hired a crack team of paralegals (read: people desperate enough to get a foot in the door that they'll work for minimum wage), so hopefully these plum jobs will fall to them in future.

OMG. I can't even begin to say how above and beyond the call of duty that was. You're a braver man than I.

Ha. I don't actually mind rats - several of my friends have had them as pets, and once you've played with them it's difficult not to see them as big guinea pigs. I would have been less keen if they'd been running around the room I was actually in, rather than safely sequestered on the other side of the door though.

How did your OH get on with his job interview, BTW?
