You described perfectly how I see things eventually falling apart for Ron and Hermione. The two things they have most in common with each other is their friendship with Harry and the fact they can't stop fighting with each other. Yeah--that sounds like a dream relationship all right. *eye roll* But I also like to think that deep down they both care enough about each other that they would just let go before everything between them was ruined. I like Ron--I just don't think he's a good match for Hermione ( ... )

Yeah, I like Ron too. I think I've read so many fanfics about Ron being this evil, cheating bastard that I had to write something in response to that. A relationship with Ron and Hermione wouldn't work because they're just inherently wrong for each other but they love each other as friends enough that they wouldn't let that friendship go to shit over this.

Well, I'll be doing my take on Canon!Ginny in the next chapter. She's going to have a lot more depth, I think, but not JKR kind of depth, because we all know that's just a load of BS :P Anyway, I'm so glad you liked it :) Thanks for commenting!

At last I came over to read this, and wow, what I had been missing, honey! This is wonderful. You've got the characters so, so right. I also liked that you pointed out that it is Weasley friendly. God, I'd been looking for a new WIP to read, and I found it! Yay :D

I'll go read ch 2 now.

Ah, balm to sooth the soul of this H/Hr man. :-) Lots of points here taken from the H/Hr bible on why OBHWF woulnt' work. Like this:

and he had shot back that he couldn’t believe what he was thinking, taking up with such a plain, frigid nag. He didn’t believe it, hadn’t meant it at all but the damage had been done.

I could well believe that happening, and that the 'damage' would be much worse, now that both participants were young adults.

to step into a role that he had been wishing himself into since he was fourteen.

That's largely the reason for OBHWF, isn't it? Ginny locked into her childhood crush; Ron similarly crushing after Hermione from an early Hogwarts year; and Hermione, for some unknown/?$#%!?! reason, deciding that he was 'the one' and waiting years for him to grow up to be a suitable mate.

He couldn’t understand her need for knowledge, her independence, or her ambition.

Oooh, that was certainly evident from the canon!

Ginny couldn’t have been more perfect than if she had sprouted from some writer’s pen.Hee ( ... )

At this point, I don't think Harry had an instantaneous epiphany that Hermione was "the one" or anything. Certainly not after she had just gotten out of a relationship with Ron. I just wanted to show the start of it, that maybe at this point there was an inkling of something more :)

Thanks for the review!
