My money's on River being in the suit. But I have nothing concrete to back this up with... yet. XD Really, the only reasons I'm thinking are these: just before River is arrested at the end of last season she admits she killed the best man she ever knew (how many of those does she have in her life? My guess is one: the Doctor); and when she was arrested (if my memory serves me right) it was circa 2010/2011 ( ... )

We don't really know when River was arrested, except it was probably in "the future". The past of her timeline, the future of the Doctor's.

Canton could have been dropped off somewhere in the 1930s, and then aged his way back to 1969. I don't think it's likely, but given that everything was so retro, I have to think it's important.

River met the Doctor in the Library, yes, but from her viewpoint that was the last time she ever sees him. She's been shown to jump around in time, writing the oldest words in history on that cliff face, for instance. But no, I don't think she's a Time Lord. But she may not be human.

We don't know a thing about the girl in the suit, if she's human, if she's River, if she's an actual girl. A real girl could never properly fit and move about in a spacesuit made for an adult male, so something's very weird about the situation.

And yeah, River does first appear to the Doctor in a space suit in the Library! Wouldn't it be sort of poetic if that's how he last appears to him, too. (And how she, maybe, first ( ... )

OMG, synergy....

Doctor firsts meets River the last time she meets him.

What if the last time the Doctor met River, it was the first time she met him? And she killed him? And we just saw it??

So that little slice of time we saw when he's talking to the suit, he's explaining to her how he already knows her, knows she's going to kill him, etc. And that sorta starts her journey to redemption?

Mind. Hurts.

I think plots like these make most sense after 12:30AM... and after you've been drinking, LOL.

I don't think the Doctor would allow two Cantons who are 30-40 years apart to exist in the same time. All sorts of crazy stuff would unwind the universe and all that rot. I'd really like to see where/when River comes from and whether she's human or alien. I read somewhere that the gun she uses is the same one Jack Harkness had, so that begs the question: HOW did she get it?? Did she steal it? How does she know so much about the Tardis? I mean, just because you marry a car mechanic doesn't mean you know everything in the trade, you know? There has to be something else.

Isn't it ALSO rather poetic that River and the Doctor both see each other die? And the Doctor sorta "saved" River, which makes me wonder if River will "save" the Doctor, too....
YES to all this! I really hope River saves him. I wonder how this will all turn out because I still do not accept he died and his body was burned. XD
