Judging from his answers to you all? A mixture of medical shamanism and... well, possibly some sort of dark magic.

I don't see how that poses a threat to any of us. Long as we don't get on his bad side, it shouldn't matter much. And even so.. everyone else has something about them that makes them 'special'.

Exactly why we are to be careful around him. He is a doctor, a shaman, and possibly a practitioner of black magic. It will be easy for him to make a 'mistake' during an operation or murder us in our sleep if ever we anger him.

And he also does seem quite unstable of mind- it will be difficult to tread around him.

[Seven knows Uryuu wouldn't be so informative about their newest arrival without due cause. She's a born skeptic, but fortunately it isn't her first encounter with shamanism.]

I am vaguely familiar with some of the native American beliefs and practices. If there are going to be vision quests, I want out now.

He sounds vaguely German, I'm afraid, and I do not know of any practice in his own culture. But his mere name and occupation gives me some sort of idea.

He may have adopted more worldly practices, though he indicated placing a certain importance on familial tradition. He is the eighth Johann Faust -- you may have heard.

[Now on to why she's screening this in the first place.]

Is there a cause for concern, Uryuu?

The name 'Faust' may come from the story of a doctor named 'Faustus'. I'm not quite sure if the story is real- it is a very old one.

Dr. Faustus had sold his soul to the devil to obtain the riches of the world.

You may think I am being paranoid, but I do know the name 'Faust' has never been used at all.

It is peculiar -- he seemed excited about the dead.

All shamans are. And I myself- I can be classified as a shaman in certain cultures myself.

He seemed to have a more particular reason. A skull: he addressed it as Eliza.

I am aware of that. It must be the skull of a person named Eliza- someone very close to him. Or at least a replica of her skull.

Did you hear what he said about some kinda Shaman Fight? He wouldn't tell me anything other than the fact that he was fightin' an' that he had a reason to. He seems all right, though. A bit strange, o' course. But look at th' rest of the people here. He's not peculiar if you account for...everyone else, no?

Yes... it seems as if it's a battle between shamans like him.

His level of power is almost the same as mine, but of course, there are differences.
