why do they say "thrown"? it seems so aggressive (For lack of a better word)

"thrown" refers to pottery being made on a pottery wheel. you actually throw the clay onto the wheel, and have to do it with a lot of force so that it will stick.

yes. it just seems so unlike pottery to me. when i think of it and the process to make it i think of something i dunno.. softer?
