The Pirate Palooza this year was both very good and very disappointing. The performances were as enjoyable as always. The Rum Runners, Susan Hickey, Julianna Finch, The Lost Boys, Three Quarter Ale...oh just read the T-shirt next time you see me. There was a bit of overlap between Boswell and Eddie's Attic this year, The Lost Boys (though not the usual quartet) were already playing when half the crowd, including me, arrived so I only got to hear two or three of their songs.
I think they were the only act scheduled for Eddie's Attic. After a slightly long break in the music, the Rum Runners decided to entertain the crowd some more. It was enjoyable to watch all of the wenches bouncing while wondering if the floor would hold for 'King of the Cannibal Islands'.
Next stop on the tour was supposed to be The Brick Store. Ten Penny Traveler was gallantly trying to perform as the crowd kept packing in. Finally
tk0667 decided to head for the Angel early. Thinking it was a good call about 25% of the crowd joined him.
Last year when I got to the Angel there was no place left to sit with a good view of the stage, but two very nice (and attractive) women who were not part of the Palooza invited me to sit at their table. They decided to stay and listen to the music and we chatted (as best as I am able) for the rest of the evening. So, it was a pleasant surprise upon arriving at the Angel this year to see one of them. I went over and began talking with her. She introduced me to her husband and once again I was invited to sit at a table with an excellent view of the stage :)
After Mary and Don departed it wasn't long before a couple of 'pirates' asked if they could sit down at my table. They were a couple of guys from Kennesaw and this was their first time at the Pirate Palooza. A bit later a buddy of theirs joined us and I was thinking, "at least I have a good view of the stage". Then Amanda sat down. We didn't really chat much--I MUST get better at that!--but I enjoyed her company for a couple of songs. Then she spotted some other friends and did what I would do, she went away to see them.
This unexpectedly cleared the way for a girl, who I think had her eye on one of my table-mates, and her friend to sit down at our table. Christina sat down next to Michael--it is just too common of a name--and Allison sat down next to me. If I were the type to fall in love instantly, Allison would definitely be a very nice girl to fall in love with :) Unfortunately I had to get up for work at 0600 this morning so I had already cut myself off for the ride home. Still I managed to actually carry on a conversation with Allison for a short time.
I wasn't kidding myself though. When we left the Angel to go find the girls' friends who had gone to The Brick Store, I knew my time with this angel was nearing its end. We actually met the friends about two-thirds of the way and they were heading back to the Angel. Their friend the birthday girl, which is the reason they were there, was very drunk. Being the idiot that I am, and going back to not kidding myself, I left Allison talking to her friends and took a position where I could keep (Lauren?) from falling into the street and possibly catch her if she fell elsewhere. When we arrived back at the Angel, Allison was still talking with her friends that we had met and I decide it was time to mingle with my friends.
Had I not had to work I might have gone for getting drunk and seeing what foolishness happened. I sincerely hope that the electrical crew on this job I'm working will get to the point where they don't have to cut power any more--and I don't have to come in to shutdown all of the IT equipment.
P.S. To all three of you...thanx for listening ;)
