Move Completed! (Sort of....)

Jun 21, 2005 08:35

goldenmina and I are now officially residents of Seattle!

For those who may be wondering, our resident demonic feline, Puck, seems more curious than irritated by the new digs, and has discovered that he really, really likes climbing to the top of whatever pile of boxes is tallest, the better to "supervise" his humans' efforts to unpack and put away all ( Read more... )

Congratulations! My brief exploration of the Seattle metro routes suggested they are very convenient, and not just for Redmond. I'm sure this'll prove a great move for you.

Thanks for the good wishes. It's been far too long since we last saw you: the fault is ours, but we do miss you and hope to monopolize your time for a cold pint as time and place shall serve. I look forward to continuing our discssion about Kenneth Branagh's superlative interpretation of "Much Ado." ;)

Now that my rage over the Branagh comment has waned, I look forward to that pint. :)

This week I must catch the Shakespeare in the park up here. Tomorrow it's a choice between a second viewing of Batman and the pay-what you will show of Romeo and Juliet, and I'm torn, since my friends will be at the movie and my girl will be working. Alas, the play must wait for the weekend.

By the way, have I mentioned to you that I've become an Oxfordian?

What a pain moving is. I'm sure it will be worth it, though.

Quick description of some of your new neighborhood...Trader Joe's is on Roosevelt before you hit 45th street. You and Wolf should hit Die Bierstube on Roosevelt. (It's too smokey for me, and I don't like beer.) Some great restaurants on Roosevelt--Marcello's has outdoor dining, Calypso is Caribbean, Royal Palm thai, Taste of India. Enjoy.

Thanks very much for the handy suggestions, particularly the restaurants. Wolf has mentioned several pubs, too (Elysian Brewing Co.?) and I'm anxious to start sampling.

Your welcome. Just came from the hardware store, and realized I should let you know that Stephenson Ace Hardware on Roosevelt approx 90th st. is great. I just spent 1.5 hours with them customizing stain colors to match the house. Way better than the big box stores.

Whoa, that's timely advice! We were just wondering this afternoon where the nearest Ace might be, because we need some earthquake straps and we know that Ace carries the type we want. (Quit reading my mind, dammit. It's eerie.)

Good to see that it's working out (if a bit poorly). And don't cats just love to supervise?

:o)

They do indeed. Puck is enjoying his role of taskmaster, though I suspect he'd like us to finally put all "his" belongings away properly so that he can romp freely through the domicile.

So are you still at Millennium? You should wander over to Willows and hook up with me for lunch one day!

Yep, I'm ensconced in the bowels (and I use that word correctly) of F. Lunch sounds terrific! I hear that there's this shuttle dealie for easy transport between campuses.

"Easy? You call that easy?"

The shuttles can sometimes take way too long when you're at Millennium or Willows.

Fortunately I have one of those newfangled fossil-fuel-propelled gizmos. (Well, sometimes I do. Next week I'll start experimenting with bus routes, but I can drive to work if we plan for a lunch conclave.)

Whee! Hey,mister long time no see...no talk...no anything!

(It's Rachel from Chicago by the way since the LJ name is a new and stuff.)

Congratulations on the move! I hope to see the place when I eventually (inevitably) visit my wayward dark half of the former Odren crew.

You are SO friended, lady! Great to hear from you. Thanks for the good wishes, and I see from your LJ posts that some moving congrats are in order for you as well. Gimme an email shout and tell me what's the what! Oh, and get yourself to Seattle sometime soonish, hey? There's this way cool Dark Ages LARP that's in serious need of a guest NPC to bedevil a certain blond Brujah merchant character.... ;)
