This time last week a sore throat started - one of those once-in-a-decade ones that make your ears hurt too.  I remember sitting bolt upright in bed at about 3 am as part of a dream that I'd swallowed a sharp sword.  I stayed off work but by Wednesday enough was enough, thank you very much, and the doctor prescribed antibiotics which seem to have ( Read more... )

Owwww, poor you! Better enact a Trappist vow of silence from now till Monday morning to give the poor voice as much rest as you can. And on Monday take plenty of things to suck.

Hot lemon and honey. With, at least in the evenings, a good slug of whisky in it. You can even gargle with it ;-)

Thanks. Sahib's loving it as he can read the paper in peace for once. Whisky and hot lemon is one of my favourite cures! :hic: A week's holiday somewhere hot and sunny would be nice, too.

Throat's still achey, which is annoying, but the voice has held out and I've been unilaterally giving my classes longer breaks which is always popular!
