The problem is, Moffat can't make me cry any more. He spent so much of S5 setting up scenarios where people were dead/then they weren't/it was all a dream/it was all in a parallel universe that I watch scenes with which RTD would have reduced me to sobbing with, instead, a little voice of detachment going "Yeah, yeah. And now where's the clever twist/the reveal?"
Even if there turns out not to be one, it's too late; he's been an unreliable narrator so often that I don't get emotionally engaged to start with...
Yes, I did find some of the recent twists a bit too much to take, but thought perhaps it was just me! There have been some gooduns, though. Rory waiting through the centuries was one of my favourites. I shall miss his character very much - if what they are saying is true. Could there be another twist?
Amen to a happy ending! I think BBC/Moffat are sometimes in danger of forgetting that this is a kids' TV programme. Not that kids necessarily always need a happy ending, but there's no need to be cruel to the characters, which is what this sounds like. I shall reserve judgment.
