Remember three things while you're on that mountain:
1. Your parents will always love you. Not every decision kids make is always going to make their parents happy. I do agree though that figuring out who you are independant of others is a good idea: though it can be a lifetime process. Trust me, I'm still earning.

2. We dont' always see what God's doing while we're in it. Hindsight is 20/20, and trying to hear Him in the midst of our sircumstances is in the end easier than trying to figure out why you are where you are.

3. I love you, miss you, and wish you were here watching trashy TV and giving me a back massage. You are a beautiful person, inside and out, and I am so blessed to have you as a friend.
