So, I'm home. Things are actually pretty good. I'm stiff and sore and my neck is very swollen. Swallowing is a challenge, but water helps. The swelling and associated difficulty in swallowing is the result of the surgeon having to push everything in my throat - esophogus, trachea, all associated musculature and connective tissue - to one side ( Read more... )

Your surgery (and scar) sounds like it was very, very similar to what the Reader had in 2007. I am delighted that it went well, and that you seem to be experiencing the same instant relief of symptoms that he did. He said several times that the surgical pain/post-op healing was much easier to handle than the nerve pain that he experienced prior to his surgery. Here's hoping things continue healing well, and at a pain threshold that is tolerable.
