So, the Seattle Police Department has expanded the distribution of observation cameras throughout the city. Oh, it gets better. Google yourself up the West Seattle Blog and see what's written there about all this; they broke the story. (Short version: the cameras were the result of a DHS grant around which no community discussion was planned until someone called it to the Blog's attention. I LOVE having a neighborhood blog run by actual reporters, they get on this shit with a quickness.)

Seattle is politically liberal. It's not actually all that liberal, in my experience...though living in West Seattle has made me jaded, perhaps.

Additionally, one of the Seattle legislators tried to push through a Washington state gun control bill that would authorize law enforcement to SEARCH HOUSES once per year to make sure they did not possess illegal firearms. Fortunately, this little tidbit got caught by the media before it could get passed. The bill's sponsors said they had no idea that clause had been in the bill.
