Cautiously excited for Grey's

Sep 21, 2010 14:34

For the past three years, I've been cautiously excited for every season of Grey's Anatomy. Actually, scratch that, I wasn't excited after S3. Or S5 really. I can't even say I was truly excited after S6 because my heart basically felt like it got stomped on. (Ok, so really, it turns out that I was only excited/euphoric after S4. House of candles. I  ( Read more... )

Thank you so much for the link to the TV Guide. I have to admit I didn't expect much from season 7, because I just got used to having my hopes crushed. And because there are too many characters etc. This TV guide article renews my hopes though! Shonda better not messes with me again :-)

I'd love to write more about that, but I'm so unbelieveably busy and stressed with work and grad school (*waves to fellow student*) and a lot of other stuff.

I share all of your concerns. All I can do is remain [maybe naively] hopeful. My faith in Shonda isn't at the all-time low it was after S3; it's kind of wavering somewhere in the middle now. I've been disappointed before and I'm hoping that disappointment won't persist into S7. We'll see.

Good luck with school and work! It's crazy, but hopefully Thursday night we'll all get to relax for an hour and obsessively fangirl :)

I hear you with regards to going round the block and having low expectations when it comes to this show, I'm also a fan from day 1 who has suffered through the bad and the really bad. That said, like you, after reading that PD/EP article it really got me excited for what is coming up for them. Amazing how an interview with them can do this, I love how well they get along BTS and that their mutual respect for each other overflows onto the screen. This couple makes the show for me and I struggled to hang in there through season 6 ( ... )

I think it's hard for me to reconcile whether I'm excited that the story is going to be good, or if I'm excited that they're getting a story at all. Like you, I'm a Meredith fan first, so I think this article was satisfying on two levels. One, we actually get a storyline that deals prominently with Meredith and will persist throughout the season, and two, I think the storyline that they've chosen is one that could be potentially rich and satisfying for everyone. Then again, I still have my Grey's skepticism, which forces me to end this with the cynical, "We'll see."

Thank you so much for your kind words about my fic! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. It definitely helped me calm down after S6, and I'm glad that others were able to get something out of it as well. I'm hoping to write again soon, but I have no idea when :)

Spoiled myself a little (note to self: read whole post before clicking links), but I'm cautiously optimistic about this season. When I heard one of the spoilers earlier this season, I was rolling my eyes that we'd go down this road again. But it seems like that issue gets cleared up pretty quickly and hopefully, the rest will go well as well. Trying not to discuss the spoilers here, but I feel like I'm probably going to have a problem with part of this storyline (since they did the exact same thing on Friends). Overall, I think it's going to be a good thing.

I also found it quite interesting (and perhaps troubling in one case) what the actors had to say about their characters. I've gotten some unintended insight into their sex lives/marriages. :)

Same here. I don't know if some of this stuff comes from growing close with each other over time as a fake husband-wife pair, or what. But yeah, some of the stuff, I was like *eyebrows raised*

Some of it I was used to from just knowing how actors get from working closely together after so many years. But when Ellen said she wouldn't have gotten pregnant if she wore flannel pants to bed, I was like "um...did not need to know that!"

When I first read the article, I was squee-ing along with the rest of the MerDer shippers, but . . . Shonda has flat-out lied about storylines for just about every season she let spoilers be aired. If I were a more optimistic person, I'd say that she learned something from the fierce backlash and has chosen to use the truth as her current marketing ploy ( ... )

Oh, I completely agree with the lying/misdirection. I'm hoping that since a lot of the scenes are specifically mentioned as being shot already, and that a lot of the quotes are coming directly from PD and EP, that we'll make out better than we expect.

Don't even get me started on the non-wedding. It's two years later and I'm still pissed off about it. You'd think that after a near-death experience, they'd want to have the legal right to make medical decisions for each other in emergencies, but what do I know? I'm just a fan/human.

If I've learned anything, it's set your expectations low and hope to be pleasantly surprised. Here's hoping.
