weee yoou're writing a post finale fic! hehe it rained. it may be cruel but i loved that it did.

and i love to hear mer's thoughts. poor meredith, there's really a lot of things going on. loved the semi-fight they had. i love it when they duke it out instead of having one of them run away and sunk/get drunk somewhere.

and i know that this is a merder fic but, will you also resolve the issue with alex? mer+alex friendship is one of the most precious things ever.

I love when they duke it out too, so I'm glad you are on board with that! It will not be their last fight. But yeah, sulking/drinking (and sex, in happier times for that matter) takes less screen time than actually speaking so in the interest of clearing the way for Callie and Arizona to take over (no, I'm not bitter), I can see why it happens all the time.

I love the Mer/Alex friendship, so I am definitely planning on getting into it at least a little. It'll definitely focus more on Mer/Der, but what's going on with those two has implications for Richard, Cristina, and Alex in my mind.

i know i shouldn't, but i still hope that shonda actually follows through with her statement that season 8 will focus on the core characters. and she knows how to do this. she knows the formula. she did seasons 1 and 2 with so much brilliance that i find it hard to just let go and lose hope completely.

i'm really excited to see where you'll take this. can't wait for the next chapter so i can tell you how much it rocks. ;P bring it on!

I always hold out hope too, but we'll see. I want so much for them to focus on the original characters, especially if this is going to be the last season. I too am nostalgic for the older seasons before we had so many (in my opinion) extraneous characters.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the first part! Meredith and Derek needed to be fixed, and I've learned not to hold my breath waiting for Shonda to do it. I was going back and forth as to whether Mer would be defiant about what Derek said, or if she would let it get to her. In the end, I went with a little of both.

So I just wrote this big long blog entry about how I was done with Grey's and I didn't care enough about what happened to the characters to even watch season 8, and maybe I still don't, but I definitely care enough to read your fic and eagerly await the next installment. Meredith and Derek have always been the two I was most invested in, and if I do watch any more, it'll be almost solely because of them.

Anyway, that said, I love this fic. I've always loved your writing, and this is exactly what I think should be happening. I love that you made it rain, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Derek insight, where the main reason he's upset is because he wanted a chance to cure Alzheimer's before Meredith got it. I had never made that connection before.

Your Meredith-as-mommy touches are so adorable; she's already protective and nurturing and all the other things a good mommy is.

I don't love what Shonda did with the finale, but I do love what you're doing with it. I will be looking forward to the next installment!

I haven't read any episode recaps yet because I didn't want to cloud my own thoughts before I got to writing, but yeah, this season has been breaking my spirit a little. I miss seasons 1-4 when I feel like Meredith and Derek got lots of time. Since then, I feel like they've been given less and less in the interest of serving other characters, for whom I frankly I do not care all that much. I hang around for the original characters at this point

You're back with a "fix the S7 finale" fic! YAY! I very much enjoyed this first part and whenever I imagine how the story continued after the end of the episode, my mind comes up with something similar.
I'm curious how you will explain Meredith actions, because I'm torn about it. In the beginning (episode where she switched the envelope) I really couldn't understand why she did it for the Webbers, because they really are not that close (plus: I'm so bored by the Webbers by now). When she was talking about the complicated right vs wrong in the finale, I could somehow understand why she did it. For the Webbers or for anyone she would personally know. It's really weird. I don't like Meredith being "friends" with the Webbers, because I think over all Richarad did her more harm than good and I don't want him in her life. But Meredith doesn't seem to give a crap about what I think about how she is friends with :) But seriously: I'm really looking forward to the next chapters and see how it will all play out.
