seriously, i was just thinking of this story and next thing i know there's an update! =D

again, i love how real everything is. i can definitely see meredith just chatting away with zola like that. and even though it's kinda painful to see merder like this, it's also very refreshing because i do think this is how people deal with these things.

meredith telling zola that she could call her mommy if she wanted to brought tears to my eyes. and derek apologizing to meredith was a wonderful step. but it's still very sad that even though they're together they're not really together at this point.

this chapter made my already nervous for meredith heart more nervous. lol. she has all these things to deal with and derek is there but it still feels like she's alone. however, i love that as heartbreaking as the last few paragraphs of this chapter were, you ended it with meredith determined and hopeful.

Yay! Again, I'm really sorry for the delay--trying to scrape together money for next semester has forced me into working crazy, crazy hours. Hopefully the next 1-2 chapters will come a bit more quickly.

You can expect Meredith and Derek to continue to make progress. I did love that I could give Meredith her own little Scarlett O'Hara moment at the end though :)

I was so glad to see a new chapter of this fic posted! And as always, I loved it. It's so great to see Meredith figuring out motherhood, and watching as she gets more confident in raising Zola. We all know Derek would jump in and immediately be comfortable with being a dad, but given that Mer has no experience with kids (and had Ellis Grey for a mother), I definitely think she'd worry that maybe she wasn't good enough, especially after what Derek said to her in the locker room. I was so relieved that he finally apologized for that

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to leave a comment! The apology was long overdue, but I hope that when the show comes back, Derek won't only apologize for being an asshole. He's also going to have to say that he does not think that she will be a bad mother, or to me, any apology is really only half way there.

I was debating what kind of punishment I should give her because I am pretty tired of nobody facing any consequences for anything in the show. It's actually freeing to not be limited by the knowledge that it is a TV show and it still has to work. In my world, she can work at another hospital and the story can still work. On the show, everybody kind of has to be at SGH for it to work.

Looking forward to wrapping it up soon and eagerly awaiting spoilers for S8 to start rolling in.

I'm late in leaving a comment, I know. I really enjoye this chapter, because it was so much more realistic than the show has recently been (or ever been actually). I'm glad you choose to show the consequences of Meredith's actions but also that you made her realize that she didn't think that through when she switched the envelopes. To see Meredith realize that helps me to forgive her for what she did.
It's weird, even though I fully agree with Derek, that Meredith could be happy if she didn't lose even more than the job, I still think that he was too harsh. But at least they have finally cleared the "bad mother" issue between them, because Meredith is and will be an amazing mom and I'm happy that Derek told her exactly that.

I'm really curious how you will continue this story and I can't wait for the next chapter. But I completely understand when 'real life' interferes with writing, because it so often happens in my life too (in regards to blogging, in my case).

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review! I think that Meredith really did think she was right in whatever twisted way, but I also think that she did not fully think through the entire gamut of repercussions. She made a split-second decision that, if it only had short-term consequences, was admirable. But it doesn't have short-term consequences, and there's no way that she could have anticipated what this choice would mean long-term. I don't think she consciously realized that she was going to risk her entire medical career.
